The Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) is a global network of researchers and policy makers conducting quantitative analysis of international policy issues. GTAP is coordinated by the Center for Global Trade Analysis in Purdue University's Department of Agricultural Economics.

Utilities for GAMs users
The GTAPinGAMS programs include tools for translation of the GTAP files into GAMS readable form, GAMS programs for dataset aggregation, filtering and the imposition of alternative tax rates on trade or domestic transactions. Versions of GTAPinGAMs:

The SAM extraction program - GTAP Technical Paper No. 22 includes some GAMS programs for extracting SAMS from the GTAP data and making them useable with global Gams models. These programs were developed by Scott McDonald.
GDX2HAR - Utilities written by Tom Rutherford and Mark Horridge make it relatively easy to convert data between GEMPACK and GAMS.

The GTAP Africa Data Base is packaged with the GTAPAgg aggregation software, which is freely available for download after placing an order on the GTAP website.

How to Contribute to GTAP?
While the GTAP Data Base is constructed by the Center for Global Trade Analysis, the data is supplied by the GTAP Network - consisting of individuals, agencies and institutions from around the world. The Network of GTAP users represents an excellent resource for improvement of the GTAP Data Base. Those who identify areas for improvement or extension of the GTAP Data Base are free to make this available to GTAP staff in order to have it considered for incorporation into the next release. Visit the How to Contribute? section for more information.
