I have been using Surfer for years as one of the tools to record and publish archaeological sites.
We have used Surfer, Strater, Grapher and Voxler for several years. These products are perfect for the small independent looking for quality products that save money but provide top quality data analysis. They are great for making presentations and detail modeling of large datasets. The options for providing excellent visuals to help interpret data is extremely helpful to understanding petroleum reservoirs, interpret environments of deposition and structural changes.
Surfer is one of the few programs I actually enjoy working with, and I have worked with it more or less continuously since it was a DOS program in the early 80's.
