Select the Close all option on the Windows menu to close all open windows and use the New option on the
File menu of the root window to load the New dialog box. Select the Path Diagram option from the list box
on the New dialog box to load the Save As dialog box.

Enter MGGIRLS.PTH in the File name string field. Click on the Save push button to open an empty path
diagram window. Select the Title and Comments option on the Setup menu to load the Title and
Comments dialog to and enter A measurement model for visual perception and verbal ability of girls in
the Title string field to produce the following Title and Comments dialog box
Group denotes the type of respondent (1 for weightlifter; 2 for student and 3 for marathon
athlete).
• Age denotes the age of the respondent in years.
• Len denotes the height of the respondent in cm.
• Mass denotes the weight of the respondent in kg.
• %Fat denotes the percentage fat of the respondent.
• Strength denotes the breast strength of the respondent in lb.
• Trigl denotes the triglycerides of the respondent.
• Cholest denotes the total cholesterol level of the respondent.
• The specific data set is provided as FITCHOL.LSF in the TUTORIAL folder.
• The first portion of FITCHOL.LSF is shown in the following LSF window.
From the results above, it is evident that none of the modification indices suggests further refining of the
structural equation model.

These parameter specifications indicate that the free parameters of the LISREL model for the model in
Figure 1 consists of 6 factor loadings, 10 regression weights, 1 correlation, 2 variances and 5 covariances
and 6 measurement error variances.
